Welcome to Summer!
Friday, 07 December 2007

Well it's officially summer and we go into another mad season of gigs!

Tex Perkins hits the Bwana Bar on the 13th of December, for an intimate acoustic performance. This cosy little bar with great views and wicked Nexo / EV / Camco sound system is the perfect setting for such an occasion!

A tonne of corporate shows in the x-mas lead up, and then of course New Years Eve!

Mark will be mixing The Bluejays to bring in the new year in the heart of Northbridge. With loads of hot new material and an awesome live show, The Bluejays will tear the place to shreds!

The boys will be steering the ship back at State as Mark heads off again, this time with The Devil Rides Out for a week of rock and roll madness in Victoria. Mark then hits tour after tour after tour along the East coast, ending up in Sydney just in time for the ENTECH conference, which Mark will be attending with Grant Ettrick from Ettrick Audio Visual .

What's Been Happening?

It has been a while! We have been flat out with no time to keep the website up to date!

Mark Bromfield has been touring around the country with a number of different bands as FOH engineer, as well as designing audio tools for the Mark Bromfield Audio Laboratories brand, which is soon to be released to the public.

The very classy Bwana Bar at the Brighton Hotel in Mandurah, has had Mark looking after audio for their regular band nights. The gigs have been a great success and have sounded great. So far, bands have included The Bluejays, The Sneaky Weasle Gang, Tame Impala, and others, and coming up is Good Little Fox, Saritah, The Panda Band, and many more great artists.

Mark Bromfield and Jesse Fulltone, bass player in the Bluejays, took time out to develop a bass rig like no other. Through some electronic trickery and a clever combination of custom drivers and preamp system, a sound like no other was developed. Youll have to check out a Bluejays show to see this rig in action!

It has come time to hit the soul highway again and Mark shoots out to Wave Rock in Hyden for the second Wave Rock Weekender. Mark will be the FOH engineer for the Day of the Dead.

There's plenty more going on, but that's enough for now! We will do our best to keep things up to date from now on! We promise!

Lonely? Bored? It's the State Gig Guide!

Howdy folks! There are a few things happening this week which I feel should get a mention. These aren't all gigs that State are providing PA for, however we think they are worth checking out and supporting.

First cab off the rank is Tuesday 27th Feb, "Going Solo" at the Hyde Park Hotel. It's different solo artists each week but tonight is Felix from the Macaburettors, so whatever music you're into, this man crosses all genres. Cheap Entry, Cheap Pool, Free Parking!

Next up we have a fundraiser quiz night for The Panda Band's trip to Texas for the South by Southwest conference. It's this Wednesday 28th Feb at the Mount Hawthorn Community Hall, kicks off at 7 pm. Tickets are only ten bucks from Planet Video in Mount Lawley, and there are heaps of prizes to be won. Playing acoustic at this will be Miranda and Sean from New Rules for Boats. Tables of six, put your smart cap on!

Thursday the 1st March at Mojos Bar in North Fremantle is everyone's favourite surf guitar band, Day of the Dead! Let this instrumental 3 piece take you on a spooky journey down the midnight highway with warm lush ambient sounds to surround you and hot guitar licks to poke you in the eye! Cheap entry, great music, and an awesome selection of beers. Why not buy their new album while you are there! You might even persuade Ben "the freak" Frichot to put a scribble on it for you!

Friday 2nd March will see Mile End support The Freudian Slips at The Rosemount Hotel. If you haven't seen Mile End before, make sure you do now! See how nutcase guitarist Nick Barnett tears the stage apart in an audio explosion! (Hype! Hype!). Check it out! Be there early so not to miss out.

This brings us to Saturday, the 3rd of March, the highlight of the week (at least for me!), the artists formerly known as Bobby Blackbird and the Bluejays, now just, "The Bluejays", are funking it up at Beck's Verandah. Having just done Live at the Wireless on JJJ, and with a bag of new tunes, this is sure to be a fantastic set. Best part? It's FREE! Don't miss it, there is no excuse!

So there it is! What a week this will be. Support local music, support live music, but most importantly - Get up off your booty and listen to the funky sound!
